Coping with loss of a loved one…

What is this lonely path, I tread since my loved one has gone?
Snatched before their time and leaving me empty inside
Yet still, my eyes cannot close, without seeing them before me
How cruel this mind of mine that is reluctant to accept cold truth!

I cling on to my memories, refusing to accept god’s love
Yet what would life be about, were it not for times like this?
To blame God is not fair, as so for any that had laid no cause
Life’s tragedies can be many, human kind tainted, plagued or weak

Plot a course through this we must, or suffer torment ever more
It is right and just to grieve awhile but then we must find our way.
Yes we know their habits of old and we see no future without
But others have been here before us and many more will follow

How then to set example and do right by those that are left?
Self destruction not an option. Every day is a precious gift.
First we must get our mind back, set objectives, write them down
Then on a ladder of renewing ambition, strengthen our malnourished body

The way forward will be hard at first, and will require us to smile. Yes at others too!
Now-alien thoughts of faith, hope, self belief and courage , will pervade our darkest corners
Time? Who knows! Starting with a single step, find a will to do and try
Driven by survival instincts that are as natural as the mourning we will carry forever in our hearts!

Let them live-on through your life and make them proud!
